A Candle For A Beautiful Memory

My Papa (Grand-dad) would have been 95 years old today. I lost him when I was 8 years old (I'm now 38) time hasn't made it any easier and I still miss him as much to this day. I lit a candle and placed it inside the above holder (from Amsterdam). It has little windows for the candle to shine through and a hole at the top. This is reflecting onto the wall behind and looks like the moon. Papa I just want to tell you "I love you and wish you were here beside me today"

Home Study Course

Well at the grand old age of 38 I have decided to be brave and take a Home Study or Distance Study Course with City & Guilds. The course of my choice is Hand Knit Textiles (level 3, 7922-06) run by the lovely women Loraine McClean. I have always been artistic from a young age, however my parents had different ideas. So 20 years later the arty side of me has never disappeared and seems to be calling louder and louder for me to do something with my talent. Hence the course. I am now just over a week into it and have made a start on Equipment exercise, Symbol exercise, Abbreviation Exercise and made a good start on my Cast On Samples. This afternoon I'm going to start some Frottage (texture rubbing) with paper, wax crayons and oil pastels.
Wish me luck.

Veyla Mittens

I recently made these for a swap "Something Blue" these are "Veyla" by Ysolda, knitted in Koigu 100% Merino Yarn. This pattern is beautiful to knit. Would I make again? Most definitely, would make a lovely Christmas Pressie. Wonder what colour my sister would like for her Christmas? (Hope my sister doesn't read this post as I have just given the surprise away hahaha)
Anyway on to the pictures: Veyla with red nails

I have also made a pair in a reddish colour. Knitted in Mini Mochi Yarn (just to add buttons) will post later.
