Morning walks and crafting

My birthday flew past in a flash,  isn't that always the way, a day that you never want to end just goes whooosh and it's gone.  Although, Paul did try to make it last by baking my birthday cake (a Sticky Orange Marmalade one) the day after, (between you and me) I think he was just too tired to make it for my big day.

On the crafting front, I happened upon a beautiful sewing site,  and I thought lets take a peek to see what they have. Well six metres of fabric, two sewing patterns and thread later I can declare that I had a very pleasant shopping experience. This is one site I will be revisiting again and again. So excited by my purchases that I got started straight away by ripping open the pattern seen above, now, I normally just cut straight from the pattern, but in this case I thought lets trace it because in the near future I'm hoping to shed some weight, and this pattern was at the top end of the pricing range, so I thought lets just keep it in all its splendour.

The other craft item, well, that's part of a challenge over at Little Things and Uncommon Grace,  the challenge,  I have to complete a couple of letters of the alphabet from Alicia Paulson's new cross stitch kit. I started a couple of days after my big day, and I'm not doing too bad considering I'm back at work;  I've managed to complete upto the letter 'd'.

Talking of work, the beautiful pictures of new born lambs where taken on one of the nursery's days out. It was lovely and warm (well, for Scotland it was warm).  The nice thing about the walks, wherever you go within a couple of minutes you are surrounded by nature and beautiful wildlife; ducks waddling across the mainstreet, new born lambs springing around in the fields, horses, bats and birds of prey. Just beautiful, and so lovely to share with the little ones I work with.

Another year older

Yes, I'm another year older, one minute I hit 40 now I've jumped to 44, how the hell did that happen? Pffff! I just can't believe it. I wasn't bothered by my 40th, but I'm really feeling this age. I even woke this morning in an anxious mood (rolls eyes), and hunted out all my beauty products so I could preen myself  in an attempt to look just a little younger. I even sat for a whole hour watching a beauty blog, I must be in the thick of a midlife crisis...aaagghh!!!

Anyway, I received some wonderful gifts from my other half, Paul; a gorgeous french biscuit tin (I'm a big decorative tin collector, I use them for storing craft stuff). I also received a Groot from Guardians of The Galaxy I am a massive Marvel fan, I've seen most of the Marvel films 3 or 4 times. So, as you can imagine I squealed with glee when I unwrapped this. My other favourite item is a Daryl Dixon keyring for my new car; a character that I secretly lust over from The Walking Dead, it's okay, Paul is aware of this lusting. Lol!

Finally, I decided to treat myself to a couple of beauty treats (4th photo down) and then bought more when I went to Glasgow today. This is most definitely a crisis age.

Oh! Before I forget if you ever visit Glasgow you must, must, must go to Viva Brazil, but only if you really like meat.

p.s. Paul dared me to use our nicknames when I ordered our Chai Tea Lattes in Starbucks. He thought I wouldn't have the nerve, but I did, and I gave the staff a laugh into the bargain. ; p

Spring time is here

I do love this time of year, after months of cold and darkness everything feels new and bright again. Lambs are jumping in the fields and calves are taking their first wobbly steps outdoors.
The weather here in Scotland has been quite warm and a refreshing change from the rain and snow we were experiencing at the end of last week.  It seems with the sun making an appearance that my little garden has started to bloom too. Most of the plants in bloom have either regenerated from last year or have grown from bulbs that I planted in Autumn. Most of this good gardening work has come from watching and taking advice from Monty Don on Gardeners World. A programme that I watched religiously last year and one that I need to catch up on over the Easter holidays. I can see a few visits to my local garden centre coming up soon.
