Ho Ho Ho!

Hello!  Did you miss me? Just looked at the date on my blog and realised I haven't been around in a long time. I was going to write a post about it, but then I decided it was way too sad. So, I may save it for another day. Anyway, there is just too much excitement going on at my shop.

Lots of new things happening in my Folksy Shop right now! These are just a few of the items (see photos) that will be appearing over the next hour, days and weeks.  I know Christmas I hear you saying, we haven't even had Halloween yet, but "if you're not fast you're last" as they say.

The Christmas Decorations come in a set of 3 Christmas Baubles which are crocheted in coordinating colours using top of the range bright, luxurious cotton yarn. Each bauble comes with a glittery hanging loop and measures approximately 21cm in circumference. I would like to think these pretty decorations would look stunning on any Christmas Tree or equally dashing in a bowl or glass jar all year round.

With thanks to Kaleidoscope City and AterGcrochet for their beautiful patterns.

Ten unexpected ways that handmade blankets can make your life better

  1. Keeps you warm during freezing Winter temps or unseasonably cold Spring weather.
  2. Great for cosying up in during movie night, or when getting your Daryl Dixon fix (The Walking Dead).
  3. Perfect comforter for when you feel sick.
  4. The best picnic blanket on earth.
  5. Makes a beautiful, memorable baby gift (you can personalise it too).
  6. It looks nice draped over your sofa or on your bed.
  7. Works well for blanket forts on rainy days.
  8. Gives a nice, comfortable, place to sit during outdoor events.
  9. Says, “I love you this much” when you're needing a cuddle or want to be alone.
  10. A great use for stress relief, snuggle underneath and melt your worries away while eating chocolate of course.
Brrr! I think Autumn is definitely here, the 22nd of September came with a freezing, biting wind and it's not left us.  I thought it would go for the weekend, but no, it hung around and brought miserable rainy, windy weather on Saturday. Saturday was the day we were going to go to Dobbies, but it didn't quite feel right, you know, walking around a garden centre when it's pouring with rain outside, even though we were going to have tea and some lunch while there. So we decided to stay in.  I pottered about knitting some mittens; Paul made me some French Toast (eggy bread) with his artwork drawn in ketchup. He always surprises me with little gems like this.  Then I hunted down some blanket squares from a swap,  I've had these in storage for a while. Maybe, I will put them together this year in time for Christmas, as a wee gift to me.

Talking about Christmas, Paul and I have been talking about our one or two traditions we have for the festive period; making our mincemeat pies, going to the Christmas Market in Edinburgh, opening our presents while sipping or quaffing Bucks Fizz in our pyjamas and we thought, or I thought maybe we should add a few more traditions to carry over in the years to come.  But do you know what we just sat and looked at each other and couldn't think of anything, lol!  How sad is that? I think I might have to sleep on it or Google it; with the latter sounding very sad indeed. Hahaha!

Have a lovely weekend peeps!

2015 has been a bit of a whirlwind for us both, what with me changing jobs to be closer to home, and adding a new addition to our family in the form of a crazy Rhodesian Ridgeback girl, I feel like our feet have hardly touched the ground. I've had tonnes of time to craft and made quite a lot of different items, however, I couldn't find my mojo to blog about them.  Perhaps it's because I've had a lot of mixed emotions especially towards the latter end of the year about decisions I've made and losing another loved one to cancer late in November...heck at one point I  even considered cancelling Christmas as I felt too emotional.  Even a trip to the Christmas Market in Edinburgh on the 23rd did nothing to lighten my spirits. Usually, this event gets me in full swing for all the festivities to come, but nope...all the beautiful German stalls of previous years have been taken over by cheap tat and duplicated stalls, which left us both a bit sad. In an effort to capture any Christmas spirit we both locked out the world on Christmas Eve, we put on some Christmas movies, listened to Christmas classical music and made our traditional Mincemeat Pies; we've been making these together now for nearly three years.  I think the latter activity gave me the slap around the head that I needed to make me realise that I should be happy and thankful for what I have in my life.

Christmas morning was relaxed, Paul and I don't rush into opening our presents, we prefer to have breakfast first then we each decide which present the other should open first, then second and so on.  We then spend an hour or so looking at our new gifts while sipping some Bucks Fizz (orange juice and sparkling wine, another tradition) and watching Christmas T.V.  Then, we both get dressed and prepare the Christmas dinner together.  We opted for a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, the only difference this year was our starter. Usually, we have smoked salmon pate and a prawn salad but this year I wanted to try lobster.  I was worried it was going to be too fishy, but it was actually quite subtle in flavour and enjoyable to eat. Would I have it again? Mmmm! I thought it was a bit pricey and I have to admit I did miss my smoked salmon pate and prawn salad...so I don't think this will be a tradition for next year.

Talking about traditions, we have both decided to start a new tradition in 2016...instead of opening all our presents on Christmas Day,  we will keep one main present back and our stockings so we can open them on New Years Day.  A much better way to celebrate than being hungover.

What Christmas Traditions do you have?  I would love to know.

Christmas Gift Preview LAUNCH MOVED!

Website Launch Moved to 29/11/2010, 8 pm Launch!

This is due to a few issues with the new website. I have contacted the host company, and they are looking into it and will be working over the weekend to iron the issues out. They have promised the website will be ready for Monday morning. I am so sorry for the inconvenience, very stressful but I would rather everything was perfect-ish with no glitches. Once it's working it will be amazing.

I designed these cases with only the finest fabrics and threads.
Each Case has 7-9 pockets and plenty of room, they also fold over the needles, so they won't slip out. Each roll fastens up, and ties with a ribbon, Ribbon colour may vary.

Each one is unique, as I have created each one by hand with lots of love. They will grace your knitting bag, and you will receive many compliments as well as "Where did you find that case?" at your next knitting/crochet group.

The pyramid bags, are available in small, medium, large, the smallest will hold stitch markers, sewing needles and other haberdashery items

There is also box bags, most are available in the fabric used for the needle roll. They also come in small, medium, large. The largest will hold sock needles and 100g of yarn.

Sorry if the preview is a little bit late....the joys of a particular uploader we shall not name lol.

So,  here I am, finally at the starting line. I'm such a hoarder I would love to keep all of them but because I 'm such a perfectionist that's the statement that will assure you that these items are of genuine quality.  Thank you for looking, shop launch tomorrow at 4 pm.  I hope you find something you like and in keeping with my perfectionist traits all items will be beautifully gift wrapped in tissue paper.
